The recent appointment of Mr. Michael Boyle as President of Strabane Concert Brass is a fitting tribute to a great bandsman who has taught many of the current outfit. Throughout his life in Strabane, Mickey has taught scores of young musicians, and committed himself tirelessly to providing the local community with the opportunity to enjoy the musical tradition he was brought up in.

His first memory of bands is walking to St. Eugene's band room just off Barrack Street. He went there with his father three times weekly joining his three uncles at rehearsals. His uncle, Charlie Boyle, was the conductor of the band and had been instrumental in establishing St. Eugene's in 1928, the year Mickey was born.
